“Sub Machine” rides a stark, gun-talk dancehall groove, the sort of low-slung 2013 riddim that keeps its edge in the barest drum pattern and a heavy, mechanical pulse. Real Pagers Records keeps the six-track lineup tight, with Astro’s “Viper, ” Blingaz Pager’s “Yow Dog, ” Instant’s “So Mi Thing Set, ” Medzz Pager’s “Nah Switch, ” Quaa’s “Straight Gun Shot, ” and So’Brixx’s “Think Dem Evil Yet” all circling the same hard-core mood without sounding like copy-and-paste.
