Triangle 45 Riddim – Downsound Records

Downsound’s Triangle 45 Riddim has that taut, mid-tempo dancehall pressure where the kick and snare keep everything clipped and serious, leaving plenty of room for the vocals to cut through. Motion’s “See It Clearly” gives the rhythm a sharper, more reflective edge, while Ninja Man’s “Iron” digs in with veteran authority and Harry Toddler’s “Trouble Nuh Set Like Rain” pushes the same pattern into rougher street territory. The clean/raw pair on Motion’s tune hints at how seriously the juggling was handled, and the set feels especially alive when the darker cuts sit next to SK’s “Badmind Inna Dem. ” Downsound Records was in a busy run around that period, and this one carries that early-2010s Kingston austerity, right down to the dubplate from Rage, almost tucked in at the end.
