Advice Riddim (2015) – Dunwell Productions

Dunwell Productions shapes Advice Riddim into a clean, mid-2010s dancehall juggling set with a modern edge and enough space for the voices to cut through. The release came out in March 2015 through Dunwell Productions and 21st Hapilos Digital, with Mario Dunwell behind the rhythm. He had already built a reputation for polished, club-ready productions in the Jamaican dancehall lane, and this one sits neatly in that run. The instrumental has a taut, digital bounce, a crisp kick and snare pattern, and a brisk forward motion that leaves room for melody without losing its street pressure.

The lineup is short but effective. Vybz Kartel’s Protect Me is the big-ticket cut, and it plays to his gift for turning anxiety, defiance, and self-preservation into a chantable hook. Konshens brings Original Daddy with his usual singjay sharpness, balancing grit and melody in a way that suits a juggling riddim built for repeated spins. Bugle’s Be Proud brings a more conscious tone, with the kind of uplift and self-belief he has long carried in his music. Propa Fade’s Believe adds a younger voice to the set and helps round out the release with a fresh, less familiar perspective.

What makes Advice Riddim work is the contrast between the artists, not just the names. Kartel gives it heat, Bugle gives it reflection, Konshens gives it movement, and Propa Fade helps keep the set from feeling over-familiar. It is a concise dancehall package, but one with enough personality to hold its own in the 2015 riddim pile.
