9:30 Appointment Riddim - Bread Back Productions

Bread Back Productions has been one of those steady reggae labels working the juggling format with veteran voices and enough musical space for each singer to settle in. Richard “Bread Back” Bramwell, who started out as an apprentice at Gussie Clarke’s Anchor Studios and later worked closely with Sizzla, has been behind a run of riddims that includes Tan Bad, Long Life, 10 Speed and the I-95 set from 2015. By 2018, 9: 30 Appointment fit neatly into that catalogue as another rootsy, sound-system-friendly project from a producer who knows how to frame seasoned artists without cluttering the arrangement.

The riddim moves at a medium, head-nodding pace, listed at 88 BPM, with a clean one-drop feel, warm bass pressure and enough space in the drums and keys for the vocals to breathe. It has that modern roots balance: relaxed enough for singers, but firm enough to hold a dance. The Breadback dubmix closes the set and underlines how much of the interest here sits in the arrangement itself, not just the individual songs.

Sizzla’s “Wanna Be With U” gives the riddim its immediate pull, while Warrior King’s “African Princess” brings the kind of uplifting consciousness he has long been known for. Lutan Fyah and Delly Ranz link with “Like A We, ” adding a strong combination cut to the lineup, and Gappy Ranks brings his trademark blend of grit and uplift on “Bad And Bold. ” Voicemail’s “Stylee” adds a more playful vocal contrast, while Teflon, Nyah Slyce, Bobby Hustle, Savage and U T Ras help round out a juggling that feels built for selectors who like a mix of culture, melody and DJ energy.
