757 RIDDIM produced by CORNELIUS RECORDS 2016
757 Overview
It started in the studio, late nights in Kingston, when the bashment arranger brought a fresh idea to Cornelius Daley, the mind behind CORNELIUS RECORDS. Daley had already built a name for himself in the dancehall scene, known for shaping rhythms that push the dance forward. When the 757 Riddim began to take shape, the energy was different—raw, heavy, and ready for the streets. As the project grew, each artist brought their own fire. Dj Sunshine stepped up first with "Katrina Is Back," her delivery sharp and full of attitude. Teflon followed, dropping "Dat Mi Wah Do," a track that showed the same lyrical power he brought to his earlier work like "Blessed"—a song that made waves for its conscious message. Kiprich, famous for his 2013 hit "Telephone Ting," came in strong with "Nyam Back Them Word," giving the riddim a witty twist. Powa Man’s "Black Ants" added a gritty edge, while Lady Rage’s "Louder" gave the session its boldest voice. Cornelius Daley himself closed the tape with "757 Rhythm Version," letting the beat stand on its own. When the tape dropped, yard parties across Jamaica lit up. The 757 Riddim moved from sound system to sound system, its basslines and hooks impossible to ignore. Years later, crowds still remember how this tape ran the parties. The 757 Riddim is one of those rare sounds that captured the real spirit of 2016 dancehall—pure, unfiltered, and unforgettable.
