Fantasy Riddim (2017) – Cornelius Records

Cornelius Records’ Fantasy Riddim lands in the middle of its 2017 run of dancehall instrumentals, and it keeps the focus on sly party talk and sharp one-drop-to-steppers energy rather than any heavy concept. Diiverse’s “Live In It” and Lady Rage’s “Bad Girl” with Kiprich give the rhythm its most memorable moments, while Bridgez and West Kalifa keep the temperature up on “Unreal” and “Pum Pum Pink. ” The cut has that bright, bouncy late-2010s dancehall feel, with enough room for the raw versions to hit harder and strip things back to the drum pattern and bass pulse.
