360 Riddim (2015) – Reggaematic Music

There’s a warm, old-school rootsy swing running through 360 Riddim, the kind of reggae groove that leaves room for the singers to lean into the message without crowding the pocket. Reggaematic Music keeps the production tight and spacious, and Beres Hammond sounds right at home on “Woman Yuh Strange” and “60 Turn, ” both cuts carrying that familiar blend of tenderness and authority he does so well. Pressure’s “Hold The Powaz” adds a firmer edge, while Glen Washington’s “The Fire That’S Burning” and The Meditations’ “War In A Babylon Kingdom” push the set deeper into conscious territory. The riddim surfaced in 2015 and runs 12 tracks deep, with a nice mix of veterans and dependable voices, right down to that little burst of social commentary from Willie Lindo at the end.
