Power Riddim – K-Yen Productions

In 2021, when dancehall was still leaning hard on lean, digital riddims built for quick rotation, K-Yen Productions lined up Power Riddim with just five cuts and a tidy seven-artist spread. The sound feels tight and muscular rather than flashy, giving Mr Smooth’s “One Day” and Kaibanon’s “Heights and Levels” room to ride the groove without crowding it. Tanto Metro and Devonte’s “Crazy Mad” is the name that jumps out, though Jiero’s “Dawgz Movements” keeps the pressure on with a rougher edge and Jahkal and Snipa’s “Mama” closes things with a more melodic pull. It’s the kind of one-riddim set that stays focused on momentum, and that last cut leaves the instrumental’s punch and bounce ringing through the whole project.
