Trainline Record’s 2015 Utopa Riddim sits in that roots-conscious corner of modern reggae, with a mellow, forward-rolling groove that leaves room for melody and message rather than piling on tricks. Freddie McGregor’s “Amaze Me” gives the set its veteran weight, while Pressure and Perfect lean into uplift and reflection on “Loves Is The Better Way” and “My Life”; Twiggi and Yanique Sasha round it out with more personal, devotional turns on “Where Is The Love” and “Truth Is. ” It’s a compact five-cut selector, but the lineup keeps it balanced between seasoned voices and a fresher edge, which was very much the shape of reggae riddims in the mid-2010s: concise, singer-friendly, and built to carry conscious lyrics without crowding them.
