Stage Fright Riddim – Princevilla Records

Princevilla Records keeps the Stage Fright Riddim tight and stripped back, letting Dotta Coppa’s “Cyaa Dis Mi” take the lead with the kind of sharp, rude-boy confidence that gives the whole thing its edge. With only two cuts on the 2014 dancehall set, there’s no padding here: Daminance answers on “Seh Dem Bad” with a harder, more confrontational turn, and the back-and-forth gives the riddim its tension. The production stays focused on a lean, straight-ahead digital pulse rather than crowding the vocalists, so each tune lands cleanly. Dotta Coppa’s cut is the one that lingers, though, and it’s the track that gives Stage Fright its name and its attitude.
