Island Vibes Overview

In 2011, Chimney Records brought a fresh spark to the dancehall scene with the Island Vibes Riddim. The production house, founded by Jordan McClure and David Hayle, had already made a name for itself with hits like “Gyal Sidung” and “Money Box Riddim.” With Island Vibes Riddim, they continued their streak of catchy, well-crafted dancehall rhythms. The creation of the set began in Chimney’s Kingston studio, where the team built a beat that balanced sharp lyrics and classic dancehall grooves. The riddim was designed to keep dance floors moving, and it quickly became a favorite at yard sessions and parties across Jamaica. On this tape, Bugle delivers “I Dont Worry,” a track that shows his steady flow and thoughtful lyrics. I Octane, known for his hit “Lose A Friend,” brings his signature energy with “Once More.” Khago, who had recently risen to fame with “Nah Sell Out,” adds his voice to the mix with “Energy.” Kibaki offers a warning to the youth with “Jah Children Beware,” while Konshens, who later scored big with “Gal A Bubble,” stands out on “Represent.” Fans heard these songs booming from speakers at parties, giving the Island Vibes Riddim a special place in 2011’s dancehall story.
