1 August Town Riddim comes from Ras Ash 1st’s Sceptre Records, and it lands as a 2021 dancehall juggling with a sharp local identity. Ras Ash 1st is Lyndon Gordon, a Kingston August Town native who runs the label and carries the artist-producer role on the project. The riddim was released on March 26, 2021.

The sound has a clean, tough-footed bounce rather than a glossy club sheen. It moves with that late-night dancehall pull that leaves room for voices to ride the pocket, while the writing keeps circling survival, unity, and self-respect. Diphrnt1’s Justice for the World gives the set an upfront social edge, while Ras Ash 1st’s Shouldn’t and the trio cut Don’t with Fantan Mojah and Natural Black push the message into conscious territory. Fantan Mojah, a Jamaican roots-and-dancehall singer known for positive, Rastafarian-minded music, and Natural Black, the Guyanese reggae voice with a long-standing conscious catalog, both suit the riddim’s serious tone.

Hungry Days, pairing Ras Ash 1st with Sherdon Hype and Junga Ras, adds more street pressure, and Reece Gioganii’s Peace Love and Unity and Peace, Love and Unity keep the title’s message front and center. Sherdonae’s Young Boss closes it with a younger, self-made mindset.
