Zoo Riddim (Reloaded) – Vinyl Shotz Production

Vinyl Shotz kept the Zoo name alive in 2008 with this tighter Reloaded set, a five-track dancehall run that feels leaner and more pointed than the earlier, busier version of the riddim. The instrumental sits on a sharp, skittering groove with a dry, hard drum pattern and enough low end to keep it moving without getting muddy, while Ice Cold’s “Daggerin” and Munga’s “Wanted” push the rude-boy energy forward. Alborosie’s “Police” is the cut that gives the riddim a little more weight, cutting through the bounce with his usual gravelly authority, and the label’s own version closes it out clean. Coming in a year when sparse, replay-ready dancehall patterns were still ruling the sound system lane, Zoo Riddim (Reloaded) lands like a stripped-down update made for quick reloads and fast wheel-ups.
