A cold, martial pulse runs through this one, with that tense, stripped-down dancehall bounce that leaves plenty of room for the clash energy in the vocals. Notnice keeps the arrangement lean and pointed, and the whole thing feels like a cousin to the tougher Portmore-era work he was sharpening around the same period, especially in the way it leans on Kartel’s voice as the anchor. Vybz Kartel’s “Sumady A Guh Bawl” is the obvious draw, but Black Ryno and Jah Vinci’s “Fight Fi War” carries its own weight and pushes the combative mood deeper. Coming out in 2008, the riddim sits neatly alongside the early run that helped define Notnice’s name before he became a fixture for some of dancehall’s sharpest cartel-era anthems.
