ZION RIDDIM Pt1 & Pt2 – KICK DEM RECORDS 2018
Zion Overview
The Zion Riddim, released in 2018, is built around the classic one drop rhythm. This style is known for its steady, deep drum and bass, creating a relaxed but powerful mood. The one drop gives singers and deejays a strong roots foundation, making it perfect for thoughtful lyrics and smooth melodies. On this project, each artist brings their own style while staying true to the roots reggae sound. Bugle stands out with “Eye For An Eye,” using the riddim’s warmth to deliver a message with meaning. Delando Colley’s “Funny Money” flows easily over the steady beat, highlighting the riddim’s ability to carry both serious and playful themes. Delly Ranx’s “Mount Zion” uses the one drop to give a spiritual and uplifting feeling. Devin Di Dakta’s “Switch Up” shows how the riddim can support modern voices without losing its roots. Eye Judah and NC Dread team up for “Higher,” blending harmonies that match well with the laid-back groove. Isasha’s “Brain Food” and Kim Nain’s “Love On Fire” both use the rhythm’s warmth to create songs that are easy to listen to but full of emotion. Kriz Kapital’s “Blaze Up,” Munga Honorable’s “Vibrate,” and Raine Seville’s “All Night” round out the set, each adding their own flavor to the riddim. The Zion Riddim was recorded at Big Yard Studios and released by Evidence Music. This one drop riddim is a reminder of reggae’s rich history and its ongoing influence on artists today.
