Xmas Riddim – Genesiz Production

Already this one feels like an early Genesiz Prod holiday cut from the local soca-dancehall lane, with a 2010 date and a crew-heavy lineup that leans hard on island patois and short, chanty hooks. Kenzy and Rafya open things with “Intewdi nou, ” while Red Eye Crew’s “Call A Friend, ” Kalash’s “Crazy Love, ” and Sensitive’s cheeky “No Ghetto Santa Clause” give the riddim its most memorable turns. The project was put together by Phantom-X, and the instrumental sits in that brisk, festive pocket rather than anything glossy or overworked, with tight percussion, a busy little keyboard figure, and a bassline that keeps the whole thing moving without weighing it down. It’s a compact one-riddim package, thirteen tracks deep, and the version cut at the end leaves the rhythm stripped back to its snappy, dance-ready pulse.
