Ama Riddim comes in as a lean 2010 soca juggling rather than the bigger, star-heavy carnival packages that were crowding the scene then, and that tighter focus gives the set a nimble feel. Bunji Garlin’s “Who U Rather (Gully Or Gaza)” is the obvious talking point, but Mr Vegas’ “Fresh” and the Cc cut “Steam, ” with Benjai and Kernel Roberts in the mix, keep the energy moving with a bright, skippy pulse and a bassline that stays light on its feet. 3 Suns’ “Frolic” and Team Buffy’s “Anything” push it further into party mode, while Super Jigga Tc’s “Where D Gyal (Nah Go Home)” keeps the arrangement brisk and direct.
