Xpress Riddim (One Riddim Vol 3) – Genesiz Productions

By the time Xpress Riddim landed as Genesiz Productions’ third one-riddim outing, the label was clearly comfortable letting the cut speak for itself: this is bright, kinetic soca with a lean club-ready pulse and a big Caribbean crew lining up behind it. The strongest moments come from the hooks that stick fast, like Barone’s “Swag On” and Misie Sadik’s “Gwada Vinn Hot, ” while Jowayne and Kellingston’s “Vwe Nou Down” leans into that jump-up energy in a way that keeps the whole set moving. The version cut from Phantom X also gives the package a proper anchor, letting the riddim breathe on its own after all the vocals. Released in 2010, it feels very much of that era: a busy regional compilation packed with voices from across the islands, built for sound systems, fetes, and the kind of repeat spins that keep a soca riddim alive.
