Already you can hear how this one leans into that Kenyan reggae-juggling feel, with Waunde Music gathering a small, tidy cast and letting the rhythm carry the mood while Man Wazimu’s “Man In Love” and Python’s “Well Done” sit right in the pocket. Released in 2012 and produced by Timothy Waunde, the Well Riddim also crosses a bit wider than the local lineup might suggest, pulling in Emperocizaq from Uganda and Python, who was then based in London, alongside Janeson, Voice Rassy, and the Waunde Family cut “Wewe Ni Baba. ” It’s the sort of compilation that keeps its focus on the vocal turns without crowding the riddim, moving through “Tuokoe, ” “Most Welcome, ” and “Material Girl” before closing out with the version.
