2015 was a busy year for soca riddims leaning into Carnival-ready hooks and Spanish-flavoured call-and-response, and Flamingo Riddim fits right into that pocket with a compact four-track set from Sheriff Music and Mr Renzo Music. Fadda Moses turns in the sharpest cut with “Ay Ya Ya, ” while Mr Killa’s “Senorita” and Mr Renzo’s own “Loca” push the project toward a bright, flirtatious sound built on quick percussion, a steady bounce and a melody that stays light on its feet; the instrumental keeps that same energy intact, leaving enough space for the vocals to carry the tune. The release runs four tracks in all, with the instrumental closing out the set.
