Water Bed Riddim (2009) – Stereotone

Water Bed Riddim comes in from the 2009 reggae crop with a warm, loping groove that leaves plenty of room for the voices, and the lineup has that pleasing mix of roots-minded singers and big-name firepower. Richie Spice’s “Knock Knock” and Sizzla’s “People Need Love” feel like the anchor cuts here, both leaning into the riddim’s patient pulse without crowding it, while Chrisinti’s “My Burden” and Kananga’s “Praise Jah” keep the spiritual side front and centre. Beenie Man And Friends with “Rocky Road” adds a looser, more playful touch in the middle of the set, which gives the whole thing a nice bit of movement. Eight tracks long, it’s the kind of one-riddim set that moves quickly and leaves a clean aftertaste.
