Warm Kingston Riddim – Size 8 Records

Size 8 Records has long been tied to General Degree’s camp, and Warm Kingston finds the imprint working in familiar territory: polished dancehall with a melodic backbone and enough veteran weight to give the set some bite. Released in 2019, the riddim carries a breezy, mid-tempo bounce, with clean drums, rounded bass and a warm groove that leaves room for hooks rather than forcing aggression.

The strongest cuts come from the names that know how to ride a juggling without overplaying it. Bounty Killer’s Real Man brings the rougher edge, Queen Ifrica’s One Hold adds authority and a more conscious touch, and Christopher Martin’s Weekend Love pushes the sweeter side of the rhythm into full view. Tarrus Riley joining General Degree on Feeling Irie is one of the project’s smoothest moments, pairing Riley’s polished singjay flow with Degree’s veteran dancehall seasoning. General Degree also returns on Ready Now, which helps frame the riddim as a personal statement as much as a compilation.

Elsewhere, T. O. K. , D Major, Sophia Squire, Hawkeye and Chico, and Lust all help widen the palette without breaking the mood.
