Wanted Riddim arrived in 2001 from Bobby Konders’ Massive B camp, a Brooklyn outfit that helped shape New York’s dancehall bridge between the sound system and the studio. By then Massive B had already become a trusted name for hard, street-level reggae and dancehall cuts, and this set sits right in that lane.
The riddim has a lean, forward-driving pulse that leaves plenty of room for the vocals. It feels sturdy rather than flashy, with a rolling groove and a militant edge that suits conscious singers as much as hard-hitting deejays. That balance is what gives the project its shape: it can carry a roots-minded message without losing dancehall pressure.
Anthony Malvo opens with “It’s Real, ” bringing the kind of seasoned, tuneful delivery that made him a reliable voice in Jamaican dancehall. Luciano’s “Prophesy” gives the riddim its clearest roots lift, leaning into spiritual uplift and strong melodic phrasing. Mikey General’s “Liberty” sits in the same conscious pocket, with the warm, reflective tone he was already known for in the early 2000s. Power Man’s “Love” and Determine’s “Revelation” keep the message side active, while Dreadson’s “Zion” adds another serious, faith-driven cut.
What makes Wanted work is the way it moves between message music and dancehall energy without losing either. It is a snapshot of Massive B doing what it did best in that era: giving conscious voices a tough rhythm bed and letting the singers carry the weight.
