Vipa Riddim – Evabless Records

Vipa Riddim came out of Evabless Records in 2013 with a compact four-song dancehall juggle that keeps the focus on sharp one-drop hooks and everyday badmind talk rather than any big studio gloss. Benji Hype and Laden’s “Google Badmind” is the immediate pull here, with Criss Dallaz’s “Nuh Waste Man” and DJ King James’ “It’s My Life” carrying the same streetwise, no-nonsense energy across the set. There’s no wasted space in the arrangement, just a lean, rolling groove that leaves room for each artist to stamp their own cadence on the riddim. Thomo T closes it out with “New Broom, ” and that final cut helps underline the project’s quick, focused feel.
