Flip Money Records’ Raw Cash Riddim landed in early 2013 as a tight six-cut dancehall juggle, the kind of compact label showcase that keeps the focus on the rhythm itself. The production has that hard-edged, money-minded bounce the title promises: snappy drums, a lean bassline, and enough space for the deejays to push attitude without overcrowding the track. Flippa Moggela opens things with “Hear Mi Hear, ” I-Octane brings the sharp warning tone on “Mad Dem, ” and Mavado’s “Million Dollar Man” is the obvious centerpiece, all swagger and upward-mobility talk. Assassin’s “Don’t Violate” adds a stricter, more menacing turn, which suits the riddim’s clipped pulse.
