Undying Love Riddim comes from 1968 and is rooted in Coxsone Dodd’s original Studio One cut, with later versions carried through labels and producers including Bunny Lee, Donovan Germain, Bobby Digital, Barry O’Hare, Phillip Burrell, Lloyd Barnes, and Patrick Donegan. The version set pulls in a strong mix of roots singers and later dancehall voices, from Ernest Wilson’s original Undying Love and Cornell Campbell’s 1975 cut to Freddie McGregor’s Wine Of Violence, Benjy Myaz’s I’m So Lonely, Cocoa Tea’s There’s No Hope, and Frankie Paul’s Broken Heart. It’s a long-running riddim with a clear melodic pull, and the lineup shows how well the song travelled across eras, moving from late-60s rocksteady into 70s roots and 90s revival cuts without losing its shape.
