TURNPIKE RIDDIM produced by PURE MUSIC PRODUCTIONS 2012
Turnpike Overview
In 2012, a new roots reggae riddim began its journey in the studio of PURE MUSIC PRODUCTIONS. Known for their steady hand in the reggae scene, PURE MUSIC PRODUCTIONS had already made a mark with well-received riddim compilations and a reputation for crisp, live-sounding mixes. The producers gathered musicians and vocalists, focusing on live percussion and a warm, vintage sound. The result was the Turnpike Riddim, a project that quickly found favor among selectors and roots fans. Each artist brought their own energy. Gappy Ranks, whose song "Heaven In Her Eyes" had reached the UK reggae charts, delivered "Lord Have Mercy," a track filled with heartfelt cries and melodic hooks. Winstrong, known for his rootsy delivery, added "Friendship," a song about loyalty and trust. Bobby Hustle, recognized for his modern reggae style, contributed "Jah Watch Over," blending conscious lyrics with smooth vocals. Nikesha Lindo, celebrated for her soulful voice and daughter of producer Willie Lindo, gave listeners "Closer To Me," adding a touch of lovers rock. Esco Levi, a multiple Juno Award winner for Best Reggae Recording in Canada, uplifted the compilation with "Do Good Everytime," bringing a message of positivity. Other voices like Timmi Burrell with "Im In Love," Dway’s "Searching," Jemere Morgan’s "Paradise," Le Prince’s "Youre One," and Delly Ranx’s "If I Knew" completed the lineup, each adding their own layer. Turnpike Riddim became a staple in roots sessions, keeping the spirit and message of reggae alive throughout 2012.
