TOASTER RIDDIM – ADIDJAHIEM RECORDS / NOTNICE RECORDS 2010
Toaster Overview
In 2010, the Toaster Riddim brought new energy to dancehall music. This bashment rhythm was popular at parties and dancehall events that year. Compared to other dancehall collections of its time, Toaster Riddim stood out for its lively, bouncy beat. Many other riddims in 2010 had a darker or heavier sound, but this one focused on fun and movement. The riddim gave several rising artists a chance to show their talent. Gaza Slim delivered the song “One Man,” which showcased her strong voice and unique style. Popcaan, who would later become known worldwide for his hit “Only Man She Want” in 2011, brought two tracks: “Body Suh Right” and “Pussy Suh Tight.” These songs helped Popcaan build his early reputation in dancehall. Sheba’s “Pussy Watchman” added a bold and playful touch to the collection. Vybz Kartel, one of dancehall’s most influential artists, contributed three songs: “A That A Gwan,” “Mi Love Pussy,” and “Mi Love Yuh.” Vybz Kartel was already famous for his album “Pon Di Gaza 2.0” and his many chart-topping singles. The architect behind the riddim created a sound that felt fresh but still true to dancehall roots. Toaster Riddim’s bashment vibe made it a favorite in 2010, giving both new and established artists a chance to shine.
