Tinkin Toe Riddim – Smokeshop Studios

Smokeshop Studios keeps Tinkin Toe Riddim lean and uncluttered, a sharper, more stripped-back dancehall cut than some of the label’s busier later work. Released in 2021, the project runs just seven tracks deep, with Bryko Blaze, Double K, Exco Levi and Krytixx, Eyesus, Ice Cold and Zinthos all taking a swing at the same pulse. The production sits on a taut, urgent groove rather than anything overly ornamental, leaving space for the voices to do the heavy lifting; Exco Levi and Krytixx’s “Lawd” and Eyesus’ “Family” are the most immediately memorable cuts in that line-up. Ice Cold gets two turns on the riddim, which helps underline how the track keeps its identity through repetition as much as variation. What ties it together is the dry, mid-tempo bounce and a low-end pattern that stays firm without crowding the vocals.
