THUMBS UP RIDDIM produced by VASCO PRODUCTION 1998
Thumbs Up Overview
The Thumbs Up Riddim was created in the studio with a clear vision. VASCO PRODUCTION, known for their sharp dancehall sound, wanted to blend hardcore vibes with hooks that would stick in listeners’ heads. The riddim was built on the classic 1998 dancehall foundation, but VASCO PRODUCTION added their own touch, making it both tough and catchy. VASCO PRODUCTION has been active in the Jamaican music scene for years and has a reputation for producing dancehall tracks that get heavy play on sound systems. The riddim attracted some of the most energetic artists of the time. Bad Dog & Stevie Face delivered “Fidel Castro,” a track that stands out for its punchy delivery and memorable chorus. Stevie Face is known for his smooth vocal style and has had hits like “Tell It Like It Is,” which helped him gain recognition in reggae circles. Black Rat & Max Wayne joined forces on “Go Fa,” bringing their own flavor to the riddim. Black Rat was already known in dancehall for his unique voice and energetic performances. Captain Barkey’s “More Than We” added more power to the lineup; Barkey is remembered for his role in the duo with Wickerman and for songs like “Go Go Wine.” Delly Ranks contributed “How Yuh A Gwaan So,” showing his skill as both a deejay and a producer. Future Troubles added “Joe Grind,” a track with witty lyrics and a strong rhythm.
