The Runway Riddim – A Team Music

Mid-tempo and polished, The Runway Riddim had A Team Music lining up a fairly deep 2011 cast and letting the voices do most of the work: Beenie Man and D’Angel on “Yes Mi Know, ” Etana on “Summer Time, ” Bugle on “Boom Boom, ” plus Gappy Ranks, Mr. Vegas and Natalie Storm across the set. The mix of clean and raw cuts on Lexx’s “Get Down, ” Natalie Storm’s “Monster, ” and Zumjay’s “Put It On (Sex Sex)” points to a release aimed squarely at dancehall systems as much as radio, with enough versions to keep selectors busy. There’s a noticeable bright, forward motion in the rhythm section, but the pull comes from the bass line and the clipped, percussive shuffle underneath the singers.
