MashWorks Family Studio kept things tight on The Mummy Riddim, a five-track 2017 soca set that leans hard into Jab music energy rather than a sprawling carnival compilation. The instrumental has that sharp, driving pace you want from a road tune, while Fragile’s “What Are Those, ” PPM’s “Free the Jab, ” and Warlord’s “Jab Position” all ride the riddim with the kind of flag-waving swagger that makes the project feel geared for the street and the fete alike. Smallz and K. C. add a cheeky edge on “Drunk and Stubborn, ” which helps break up the vocal mix before the bare-bones version comes back around. The release runs five songs in all, with the instrumental closing the set, and the whole thing landed on February 3, 2017.
