THE CLONE RIDDIM produced by MADHOUSE 1999
The Clone Overview
The Clone Riddim was created by the well-known Jamaican label MADHOUSE. This label, founded by Dave Kelly, is famous for shaping the sound of dancehall in the 1990s. MADHOUSE released many important riddims and was behind hits like “Action” by Nadine Sutherland and Terror Fabulous. Their productions are known for strong beats and catchy hooks, and Clone Riddim is no different. The riddim features top dancehall artists from the late 1990s. Beenie Man and Mr Easy team up for “Haters And Fools,” bringing Beenie Man’s energetic style. Beenie Man is one of dancehall’s biggest names, known for his 2000 Grammy-winning album “Art and Life.” Bounty Killer and Baby Cham join forces on “Another Level.” Bounty Killer is famous for his gritty voice and has won multiple awards, including the 2002 MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act. Chico’s “Yuh Nuh Care” adds a smooth flow, while Frisco Kid delivers “What You Up To,” showing his unique vocals. Lady Saw, often called the Queen of Dancehall, brings her bold lyrics in “Dial Tone.” Lady Saw made history as the first female deejay to win a Grammy, for her work on No Doubt’s “Underneath It All.” Shaggy, another global star, appears with “Girls File.” Shaggy’s 2000 album “Hot Shot” went multi-platinum worldwide. Clone Riddim was a popular sound at bashment events in 1999, making it a memorable part of dancehall history.
