Thanks Giving Riddim – Rare Musik

Rare Musik had already been leaning hard into Zimdancehall by the time Thanks Giving Riddim landed in 2021, and this one keeps the focus on sharp local voices over a lean, no-frills juggling. Silent Killer’s “Ndinopisa” and Seh Sparta’s “Die for You” sit near the front of the pack, while Timz Carter’s “Magoons” and Beezman B’s “Chimoko” keep the energy moving with quick-fire patter and a restless, mid-tempo groove. The whole set runs like a compact showcase for the label’s ear for Zimbabwean dancehall, with the production staying tight enough for each singer to cut through cleanly. The release includes 12 tracks in all, from Luz Virca’s “Vanobata Ruzi” to Avilian Avilian’s closing “Mi Ah Work, ” and it runs just over 31 minutes.
