Tattoo Flava Riddim – Black Shadow Records

Black Shadow Records returned to its roots with Tattoo Flava Riddim, a 2021 dancehall juggling from Troyton Rami, the Jamaican producer who built his name through Black Shadow and later Troyton Rami Music. Rami’s catalog runs deep in the era that helped turn riddim culture into exportable dancehall, and this one sits comfortably in that line: punchy, radio-ready, and geared for both clean and raw versions. The release arrived in March and was issued as a full various-artists set on major digital platforms.

The rhythm rides at a brisk, mid-tempo dancehall pace with a clipped drum pattern, rubbery low end, and a glossy synth bed that leaves plenty of space for the vocals. It has the kind of polished bounce that works for party records, but the mix still carries enough grit to keep the street edge intact. That balance is what gives the project its shape.

Skinny Fabulous opens the strongest lane with “Boss Bitch, ” bringing his hard, patois-heavy delivery to a song that hits with confident, commanding energy. Problem Child’s “Between Sheets” pushes the slyer side of the riddim, while V’ghn’s “Lil Time” adds a smoother, more melodic contrast. Dovey Magnum’s “Say” brings a sharper, flirtatious female voice into the mix, and Mr. Vegas anchors the set with “My Story, ” a veteran presence that gives the project extra weight. Red Rat and Future Fambo add more personality on the other cuts, and the instrumental version ties the whole thing together for selectors.
