Sweet Child Riddim – Uneon Movement Inc.

Uneon Movement Inc. kept Sweet Child Riddim lean in 2015, with just six cuts and a nice mix of veteran voices and newer names rather than a crowded vocalist parade. The groove feels like mellow roots reggae with a soft, romantic edge, the kind of riddim that leaves room for melody and sweet phrasing instead of pushing hard on the drums. Courtney Melody’s “Paradise” and Frankie Paul featuring Aaron Jones on “Sweetchild” give it the most familiar pull, while Major Christy and Simpleman keep the mood grounded with straight-ahead love-song business. Kshoya’s “Its Not Too Late” adds a dub mix variation, and Wayne Anthony closes things out with “I Will Never Leave, ” a fitting final note for a set that stays warm, modest, and tuneful all the way through.
