Sweeney Riddim – Blacker Dread

Blacker Dread leans on a strong lead here, with Determine’s “Mans Heart” setting the tone before Pinchers comes in sharp on “Cut Them Down, ” the kind of tough, roots-minded cut that keeps a 2003 juggling moving. Sandeno’s “No Where To Run” adds another voice to the set, while the version keeps the riddim in play with that stripped-back instrumental pressure producers used to leave room for the singers. Compared with some of Blacker Dread’s rougher late-90s work, this one feels a little cleaner and more measured, but it still carries that steady militant swing his catalogue is known for.
