Swag Riddim (2013) – Tenament Yard

Tenament Yard’s 2013 Swag Riddim comes in with a neat eight-cut dancehall spread that leans more streetwise than flashy, and the title does most of the talking: Cp’s “Swag Beatin, ” Lisa Hyper’s “Lock Dung Di Place, ” Pamputae’s “Swag, ” and Papa Pimp’s “Hot Gal” keep the energy pointed at bashment and self-assurance rather than any soft-edged crossover. The set stays tight, with Tenuke’s “Wine Up” and Drezion’s “Wanna Be Rich” nudging things toward party pressure and hustler talk, while Zero closes it out with “Affi Get A Gal, ” a fitting final push from a riddim that never drifts far from the dancefloor. Lisa Hyper gets the sharpest spotlight here, but the whole sequence has that compact, late-summer yard vibe that Tenament Yard seemed to know how to frame.
