SUNDANCE RIDDIM produced by PRECISION PRODUCTION 2014
Sundance Overview
The “Sundance Riddim” parade set first made its big appearance during the 2014 carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago. That year, the track base quickly became one of the top festival highlights, with crowds responding to its high energy and catchy beats. Several well-known artists brought their own style to the “Sundance Riddim.” Aidonia, a popular dancehall artist from Jamaica, delivered “Gal Tease Me.” Aidonia is widely known for his hit “Yeah Yeah,” which helped cement his reputation in the dancehall scene. Machel Montano, often called the “King of Soca,” performed “Ritual.” Montano has won multiple International Soca Monarch titles and is recognized for his influence on modern soca music. The duo Kes & Mr.Killa teamed up for “Yesss Gyal.” Kes, the Trinidadian band led by Kees Dieffenthaller, is famous for their song “Savannah Grass,” a carnival favorite in later years. Mr.Killa, from Grenada, is best known for his 2019 hit “Run Wid It.” Sekon Sta brought his energetic style to “Maniac,” while Skinny Fabulous delivered “Pon D Top.” Skinny Fabulous, from St. Vincent, is known for his collaboration “Famalay” with Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin, which topped charts in the Caribbean. The production was led by PRECISION PRODUCTION, a Trinidad-based company known for shaping the sound of modern soca. Founded by Kasey Phillips, Precision Production has worked on many of the genre’s biggest hits and has influenced soca’s global reach. With its infectious rhythms and star performances, the “Sundance Riddim” became a key anthem of the 2014 soca season, leaving a lasting mark on carnival celebrations.
