Ibetter Riddim  – Precision Production

Abbyshi’s “Bubble And Wine” feels like the track that opens the door on Ibetter Riddim, with the other cuts circling around the same waist-moving soca energy. Precision Production keeps the five-song set tight and focused, and there’s a nice push-and-pull between the sweeter, flirty bounce of Abbyshi and the harder-edged “Girls Dem” and “Hard Wukka Man” turns from Dnyce and Kerlz. Shradah Mcintyre’s “Wine Better” sits right in that pocket too, carrying the kind of melodic jolt that makes these Trinidad soca riddims easy to remember. It’s a compact 2012 release, all movement and attitude, with Zephrin’s “Gyal Roll” closing the circle.
