Strength Riddim – Mus Sel Production

Mus-Sel Production’s Strength Riddim lands squarely in that late-2010s dancehall lane where faith talk and streetwise warnings keep rubbing shoulders, and the lineup gives it a nice bit of range. Charlie Charley opens and returns with “Dem Fi Know” and “Hard and Done, ” while Bugle’s “Higher Power, ” Capleton’s “Pray Together, ” and Shane O’s “Never Believe” pull the project toward the more conscious side without losing the rough edge. Wyclef Jean’s “I Pray” adds an unexpected name to the set, but it’s Capleton who really grabs the riddim’s centre of gravity, cutting through the mix with the kind of authority that makes the whole thing feel anchored. The instrumental closes out the nine-track set cleanly, leaving Mus-Sel’s compact, prayer-heavy production to do its work.
