STOP THAT TRAIN RIDDIM produced by MARSHALL NEEKO REMIX 2022
Stop That Train Overview
In 2022, the Stop That Train Riddim brought fresh energy to the roots reggae scene. This release stood out for its deep respect for classic reggae sounds, while adding a modern touch. At the heart of the project is Marshall Neeko Remix, a producer known for blending vintage reggae with new ideas. Marshall Neeko has worked with several international reggae artists and is recognized for his careful attention to roots music’s original style, often releasing music through his own label, Marshall Neeko Music. The recording process for Stop That Train Riddim focused on live instrumentation and warm analog tones. This approach gave the riddim its earthy and vibrant sound, making it suitable for both radio and sound system sessions. Each artist on the riddim brought their unique style. Jah Mason delivered “Sweet Black Woman,” using his powerful voice to highlight reggae’s soulful side. Luciano, famous for his hit “Sweep Over My Soul,” contributed “Judgement All Over,” bringing his signature conscious lyrics and uplifting energy. Mikey General added “As A Man Thinketh,” sharing thoughtful messages that connect with roots traditions. The combination of Nitty Kutchie and Louie Culture on “Light Them Up” added a strong, energetic vibe. Louie Culture is well known for his 1994 hit “Gangalee,” which helped shape the dancehall and roots crossover. Pam Hall and Lexxus teamed up for “I Know,” blending smooth vocals and dynamic delivery. Looking back, Stop That Train Riddim helped carry reggae’s message in 2022. The artists and producer honored the roots of the genre, while keeping the sound fresh and relevant for a new generation.
