Still A Live Riddim (2018) – Sweet Music

Sweet Music went a little leaner on Still A Live than the bigger 2019 reissue that later padded the tune-up with a much longer lineup, and that stripped-back feel suits the title. Don Mafia’s “Still A Live” keeps the energy taut and direct, while Kibaki’s “The Struggle Is On” leans into the tougher side of the dancehall conversation, giving the riddim its most lived-in moment. There’s only two vocals here, so every bar counts, and the instrumental has that plain, no-frills bounce that lets the hooks breathe without crowding them. Released in 2018, it lands as one of those small, local dancehall sets that doesn’t try to overreach, just locks in two voices and leaves the riddim to do the talking.
