Nasty Fudge Riddim – Game On Records

Nasty Fudge has a lean, sharp-edged pull to it, the kind of 2018 dancehall riddim that keeps the drums tight and the bass line clipped so the vocals can cut straight through. Game On Records only lines up two voices here, but that gives the project a nice contrast: Leanny Frass on “Ring A Ring” comes with a more playful, talkative energy, while Shu Shu’s “Mek It Burn” pushes the riddim harder and leans into the tune’s hotter side. It’s a short release, just two tracks, and that economy suits the era it came out of, when plenty of small-label dancehall drops were chasing impact over volume.
