Stars Have To Shine Riddim arrived in 2020 from Crown International Triple and 3=3=6 Records as a 13-song reggae set built around a classic foundation rhythm with a contemporary edge. Norman Owen, the New York-based producer behind Crown International, reworked the Love Me Forever groove with veteran bassist Daniel “Danny Axeman” Thompson, and the lineup leans heavily on seasoned voices like Carlton Livingston, Pinchers, Lone Ranger, Utan Green and Iyara. Carlton Livingston’s Make Man Live, Lone Ranger’s Boom Sound, Pinchers’ Greatest of All and Utan Green and Azee’s A Me She Want are among the key cuts, while Abby Dallas, Lyrical, Mich and Tony Lowe help widen the mood across the project. The release has a rootsy, reflective feel, with songs that circle around survival, chilling out and keeping faith, which gives the riddim its own easygoing but old-school identity.
