South Bronx comes in with that sharp little 2008 Dancehall energy Snow Cone was pushing at the time, and the cast is a nice mix of names that can carry a tune and names that know how to ride a hard riddim. Beenie Man, Spragga Benz and Zumjay give it the biggest pull, while Sugar Slick and Flexx keep the pressure on with cuts that lean straight into the tune’s rough-edged momentum. South Bronx was issued as a 12-track set, with 11 vocal edits and a closing version, which tells you Snow Cone wanted the riddim heard like a proper sequence rather than a loose pile of singles. It moves from the lighter party chatter of “Turn It Up” and “Dancing” into the sharper talk on “Seh Dem Bad” and “All Over, ” then lets the instrumental sit at the end where it belongs.
