Solar Riddim – Simmer Down Sounds

Simmer Down Sounds and White Stone Productions used Solar Riddim as a warm, roots-minded summer set piece, giving the project a polished but lived-in reggae feel that runs on steady bass, bright melodic lines and a laid-back one-drop pulse. Released in June 2021 and issued through Tuff Gong International, it arrives as a nine-song riddim with a cast that mixes veteran voices and contemporary conscious singers.

The opening combination, Rise and Shine by Jubba White, Frassman Brilliant and Arturas, sets the tone with uplift and harmony singing, while Mykal Rose brings the deepest roots weight on My Best. Prezident Brown’s Experience and Knowledge pushes the message side of the rhythm, and Perfect Giddimani’s Prophecy adds a sharper, more modern edge without losing the foundation feel. Ranking Joe rolls back to classic deejay style on Ganja Roll Out, and Turbulence gives Glory Be a strong spiritual lift. Aaron Nigel Smith’s Long Time, Tuff Like Iron’s Cool and Deadly, and Twiggi’s Break Free round out a package that stays firmly in the conscious lane.

What gives Solar Riddim its appeal is the balance. Jubba White wrote and arranged the project, and the playing has enough live detail to keep the riddim from feeling sterile: roots guitar, brass accents and a smooth, summer-ready bounce.
