Blaka Dan’s “Burn Dem” jumps out first on Sokiwi Riddim, the 2017 Aquarion Studios soca set that keeps the energy bright and forward-driving while leaving room for punchy vocal turns from Hasty HD, Pumpa, and Sheldon Douglas. The sequence is tidy: four vocal cuts, then Shamak’s remastered “Action, ” and finally Aquarion’s own instrumental, so you get the riddim in full voice before it’s stripped back to the bare groove. “Burn Dem” and “Who Dey” are the sharpest hooks in the pack, with the remastered Shamak tune nodding to the project’s earlier life.
