Back Ah Yard Recordz takes a more carnival-minded turn here, leaning into a compact soca package rather than the harder dancehall side the name might make some listeners expect. Carifun Riddim keeps the energy bright and percussive, with Anthony KD and Silvah’s “Start It” setting the pace and Contagious J’s “Carnival Guide” and Mystyk’s “A+ Performance” pushing the fete spirit a little further; the whole thing moves in quick, punchy bursts rather than long, sprawling arrangements. Reginal G’s “Big Stone” and Runi Jay’s “One Team” round out a five-track set that keeps the hooks front and centre, and the release landed in 2017 with five cuts from six unique artists.
