Smoke Ganja Hard Riddim – Unknown Label

Kenneth Hookim and Jo Jo Hookim produced Smoke Ganja Hard Riddim in 1982 for Unknown Label, a short two-track set that pairs Little John’s title cut with Yellowman and Fathead’s You Wrong To Send Come Call Me. The release sits in the early dancehall period, with Little John’s ganja anthem giving the riddim its better-known name, while the Yellowman and Fathead cut adds a tougher deejay interplay to the same groove. Jo Jo Hookim’s name also ties directly to the Yellowman and Fathead side, and the Hookim family’s Channel One/Hitbound era production work helps place the riddim in that classic early-80s Jamaican sound.
